Enabling video distribution for Apple Podcasts (Beta)

To start publishing videos to Apple Podcasts, you need to have your podcast on your own Apple Podcasts Connect account and give Podspace an API key so we can publish videos for you. In this article you'll find all you need to know to get properly set up.

To get started, head to your podcasts Distribution settings and enable your Apple Podcasts connection for video podcasts.

Upload API key

Upload your API key so we can check if the show is connected to your account.

1. Generate API key

The API key is a unique identifier used to authenticate a connection between your Apple Podcasts Connect account and Podspace. To generate a new API key, you need to have an Admin role in your Apple Connect account. In Apple Podcasts Connect, choose Account. Then select the API Keys tab. To create a new key:

1. Click Generate API Key

2. Enter a name for the key

3. Click Generate

2. Download API key

When you’re ready, simply click Download API Key. Don’t change the file name as it consists of your Issuer ID and Key ID which are needed when sharing the key with Podspace. Please note that an API key can only be downloaded once.

3. Upload API key to Podspace

In the Podspace app, navigate to the podcast Distribution. Next to Apple Podcasts, you'll see a message saying you need to upload an API key to enable video distribution along with a button to do so. Click the button, find your file and upload.

Claim your show

If your show is under your Apple Podcast Connect account you can skip this step. However if we can't find the show in your account, you need to take the necessary steps to claim it.

1. Log in to your Apple Podcasts Connect account and find the action to "Claim Existing Show"

2. Follow the steps to generate a token

3. Go to your podcast on Podspace, go to Distribution, open the "Advanced" options and add your token

You then have to wait until the token is picked up by Apple, which might take up to 24 hours.

Publish a video podcast

When you've uploaded an API key to Podspace and made sure your show is claimed by your Apple Podcasts Connect account you're ready to publish videos to Apple Podcasts. When you're publishing a new episode with video it will automatically be distributed to the connections you've enabled.
